Overview
ChargeRoute ("we", "us") operates chargeroute.in. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the site and how it's handled. ChargeRoute does not currently require an account or login to search for charging stations.
Information we collect
- Location data: if you tap "Use my current location," your browser's GPS coordinates are sent to our server for that single search request, to find charging stations near you or to use as your route's starting point. We do not store this location after the request is processed.
- Search inputs: the addresses you type into the "From" and "To" fields are sent to Google's Routes and Places APIs to compute your route and find stations. We do not link these searches to your identity.
- Basic technical logs: our server may log standard request data (IP address, timestamp, requested endpoint) for security and abuse-prevention purposes, such as rate-limiting.
How your data is used
Location and address data is used solely to return relevant charging station results for the search you performed. It is not sold, rented, or used for advertising targeting.
Third-party services
ChargeRoute uses Google Maps Platform (Routes API, Places API, Maps JavaScript API, Static Maps API) to compute routes, find stations, and render maps. When you search, relevant parts of your request (such as the address text or coordinates) are sent to Google to generate results. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Cookies
ChargeRoute does not currently use tracking or advertising cookies. If analytics or advertising services are added in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly before they go live.
Data retention
We do not maintain a database of user searches or locations at this time — search requests are processed and the results returned; they are not permanently stored against any user identity.
Your choices
You can deny location permission in your browser and still use ChargeRoute by typing addresses manually. You can also clear your browser's site permissions at any time to revoke previously granted location access.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ChargeRoute adds features (such as accounts, saved routes, or station-owner listings). Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
